Our Senior Staff
Sue McBride | Trust Director
I joined Martha Trust in 2007 as Trust Director. My role involves managing the financial, administrative and personnel aspects of the charity. Martha Trust is unique as we are registered for both children and adults. The charity is funded by the fees which are paid by the purchasers of our services on behalf of the residents. Our fee structure is based on individual needs of each resident so it is a major part of my role to negotiate with the purchasers to secure appropriate fees for each person receiving lifelong or respite care at Martha Trust.
We promote the fact that Martha House is the residents' home and should therefore reflect a homely atmosphere. Disability is not seen as a barrier to anything at Martha Trust so our residents are involved in various activities throughout the day and enjoy a busy social life.
Peter Leach | Director of Nursing
I commenced working for the Charity as the Director of Nursing/Registered Manager, prior to the official opening in 1996. It has been my privilege and also a satisfying experience to see the home and staff develop to provide care and treatment to help so many residents. I am also responsible for ensuring the home meets all the regulatory requirements.
I look forward to Martha Trust Hereford having a second home.
Jennifer Avery | Deputy Manager
I began working at Martha in May 2001. The work has been an interesting and exciting experience for me and progression from a carer to my current position has been a wonderful journey.
As Deputy Manager my role includes recruiting new staff, ensuring staff are working to the best of their ability with the residents, organising training and staff supervision. I am also a trained NVQ assessor and work with staff to help them achieve their NVQ certificate.
Melinda Sumner | Physiotherapist
Hello, I am the physiotherapist at Martha Trust. I am kept busy managing our residents’ posture and mobility to allow them as much function and fun as possible. You will also find me sorting out the wheelchairs and other strange pieces of equipment, including our mechanical horse ‘Springer’.
We are lucky at Martha to have a good working relationship with the community teams including speech and language, physiotherapist and occupational therapists. We have also worked closely with the Association for Rehabilitation of Communication and Oral Skills (ARCOS) to introduce Facial Oral Tract Therapy a process which identifies the correct posture, equipment and attitude needed to enable residents to enjoy their meals safely.
Zana May Barratt | Fundraising Manager

It is my role to raise the money needed to complete the project and the next 12 – 18 months will be challenging but very, very exciting for all of us involved in Martha Trust.
I will keep updating the website with future events and ways in which you can be involved with the charity. I will also post pictures of people enjoying themselves at the fundraising events and having a great time raising money. The website will also demonstrate the family atmosphere in the home by showing photographs of birthday parties, holidays, days out and other activities showing residents staff and families enjoying themselves.
I am at Martha Trust on Monday's and Friday's so please contact me if you would like further information or you have any ideas for raising money.
