JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Home Manager

Scope of the post: The post holder will be in charge of a shift and will be expected to supervise and instruct staff to ensure the safe and efficient running of the home.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver and direct team to care for residents according to the care plan, documenting and liaising with the Primary Nurse regarding any concerns or changes

  • Monitor and assess the residents wellbeing, reporting and acting on any concerns appropriately

  • Facilitate any transfer of a resident to hospital when necessary, ensuring all paperwork and information is available and manager on call and family are informed

  • Make sure all night tasks are undertaken in a timely, efficient and thorough way

  • Maintain the security of the building and safety of the residents at all times

  • Manage the smooth running of the shift, managing your own time and that of others effectively through delegation

  • Manage the quality of care delivered on the shift through careful monitoring, training and supervision and own professional standards

  • Undertake the weekly medication count, identifying reasons for any discrepancies where able and reporting these promptly to the Deputy (Clinical Lead) or Manager in their absence

  • Liaise with parents, carers and relevant professionals as required

  • Induct new staff to night duties and participate in their supervision and in monitoring their performance and appraisal

  • Assist in developing and maintaining good working relationships within the home, promoting collaborative working partnerships and effective communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

  • Manage and report any accident or incident, completing all appropriate paperwork, undertaking investigation where appropriate and reviewing and monitoring any consequent risk and outcome

  • Appropriately manage initial response to any complaints or concern brought to attention during the shift within the complaints policy, reporting to the Deputy/Home Manager or other senior manager in a timely way.

  • Undertake risk assessment within sphere of work and environment, addressing hazards in the working area and reporting findings to the Home Manager or their Deputy

  • Be alert to issues of Safeguarding referring any concerns to the home manager or safeguarding team.

  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required in discussion with the Management.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

Admin Assistant

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

1.0 COMMUNICATION

  • Receive incoming telephone calls, answering queries or passing the caller to an appropriate member of staff.

  • Welcome all visitors to Martha Trust and provide refreshments as directed.

  • Record incoming/outgoing post and deliveries.

  • Circulate incoming post as required.

2.0 PURCHASING

  • Assist ordering of goods/services.

  • Order food requirements from Tesco/Sainsbury’s.

3.0 ADMINISTRATION

  • Issue residents pocket money to the care staff following the correct procedure.

  • Check the residents pocket money balance weekly.

  • Filing and archive.

  • Record PA testing and inventory for each home on Microsoft access.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Manager/Nurse in Charge

Main purpose of the role: To be part of a team providing individual care to each resident.

Key Tasks

Under supervision and within the limits of personal experience and knowledge to play a vital role in creating a happy and caring environment. To be involved in a wide range of general caring duties making sure that privacy, dignity and individuality is maintained at all times. To adopt a totally flexible approach and attitude to the challenges in all aspects of the post. To uphold a positive image and reputation of Martha Trust at all times. Main Responsibilities

  • To assist residents with washing, oral hygiene, dressing, undressing, toileting, grooming and all aspects of personal care to a high standard.

  • To ensure that residents are dressed appropriately at all times and care for residents personal belongings.

  • To assist residents who have limited mobility or physical disabilities making the best use of aids and equipment provided.

  • To assist in the control of incontinence, providing comfort and dignity.

  • To care for residents who are unwell including the application of minor dressings and basic bed care.

  • To undertake clinical procedures following training and assessment of competency.

  • To clean, make and change beds and keep bedrooms tidy.

  • To feed residents ensuring the correct posture is maintained and that the food is suitable for the individual.

  • To undertake various duties as instructed by the Nurse in Charge including, disposal of clinical waste, removal of dirty laundry, cleaning the staff room and tidying the linen room.

  • To assist in giving mental and physical stimulation to residents by talking to them and helping them to take part in activities.

  • To respond to call bells, answer the door and the telephone.

  • To make visitors welcome offering refreshments and assistance as required.

  • To attend hand over at the start of a shift and to listen to, read and write reports accurately.

Main purpose of role: To be part of a team caring for residents dietary and nutritional needs

KEY TASKS

To provide varied, balanced and nutritious meals for all residents and visiting relatives, using fresh and seasonal products when possible.


Main responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with Health, Safety and Hygiene legislation.

  • Provide varied, balanced and nutritious meals for all residents, using fresh and seasonal products when possible.

  • Provide specific diets as required by individual residents.

  • Take into account residents’ individual likes, dislikes and food allergies.

  • Have a clear understanding of the needs of people with swallowing problems.

  • Gain a clear understanding of food texture and consistency.

  • Ensure that staff follow Health, Safety and Hygiene legislation when in the kitchen.

  • Ensure meals are attractive in their appearance and have the appropriate texture.

  • Provide special meals as required, e.g. Birthdays, Christmas etc.

  • Order provisions for all meals, rotating stock weekly.

  • Ensure that all kitchen areas are kept clean and appropriately organised as per the cleaning rota.

  • Rotate the menu on a four weekly basis.

Key Tasks

To maintain the gardens and pathways at both homes. Working in conjunction with the maintenance staff to ensure the grounds are kept tidy and in a safe condition


Main responsibilities

  • Keep all pathways clean and weed free.

  • Weed, hoe and dig over all flower beds.

  • Prune shrubs and hedges when required.

  • Grit pathways and car parks in the winter and keep them free from snow and ice.

  • Remove leaves and debris from gutters and drains.

  • Maintain all lawns keeping them cut and edged.

  • Maintain compost area of the garden.

  • Keep all tools safe, clean and tidy.

  • Assist the maintenance staff when required.

  • Keep all gardening equipment in a good state of repair.

  • Maintain all garden furniture and fences duties.

  • Any other ad hoc.

Maintenance Person

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible to: The Trust Director

Reports to: The Trust Director

Main purpose of job: Maintain the upkeep of the home

Key Tasks

Complete all maintenance required in the home including the hydrotherapy pool. Carry out all regular checks in liaison with the Home Manager.


Main responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain the hydrotherapy pool.

  • Test, monitor and adjust the solutions for the pool on a daily basis.

  • Undertake repairs within the home in liaison with the Home Manager notifying the manager if an engineer is required.

  • Complete weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and annual checks.

  • Test the fire alarms on a regular basis recording dates and times.

  • Undertake a fire evacuation in liaison with the Home Manager and Fire Brigade.

  • Test all emergency lighting recording dates and times.

  • Keep all vehicles, owned by the Charity, clean and fuelled.

  • Check oil, water and tyres on all the vehicles owned by the Charity.

  • Inform the Home Manager when servicing of equipment or vehicles is required.

  • Maintain all tools required storing them in a safe place.

  • Keep the workshop clean and tidy.

  • Keep all flammable liquids and poisons required for the maintenance of the building in a safe secure place.

  • Keep guttering around the home and on the roof free of debris.

  • To respond to call out of hours when required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Home Manager/Deputy

Scope of the post: The assessment of residents' needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care plans. The post holder will be regularly in charge of a shift and will be expected to supervise and instruct staff to ensure the safe and efficient running of the home.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with parents, carers and relevant professionals to devise care plans which reflect the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of the resident. Implement and evaluate care plans.

  • Develop links with all residents’ relatives, care agencies and professional staff to facilitate seamless care delivery.

  • Organise regular care reviews and attend meetings pertaining to individual patients.

  • Manage your own time and that of others effectively through delegation to ensure a high quality of care.

  • Participate in an on-call rota as a point of contact and support for nursing colleagues.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining good working relationships within the home.

  • When delegated by the management team record and arrange cover for staff sickness.

  • To support the home manager and their deputy in the implementation of their role.

  • In the absence of the home manager or their deputy manage any complaints.

  • Promote collaborative working partnerships and effective communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

  • Ensure that all clinical incidents/near misses within the sphere of responsibility are managed in a timely manner. Report any action taken to the home manager or their deputy to minimise risk.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Undertake risk assessments for each resident with other members of the team.
